Stitching With Heart and Soul With The Smitten Chicken
Hi, It’s Jen Belnap of The Smitten Chicken. I am excited to stop by the Moda blog today and share my newest favorite quilt with y’all! And it is perfect for this season of LOVE!
I have always been a huge fan of Vanessa Christenson’s designs. I LOVE her ombres! Plus add some hearts and I am all in! These metallic little hearts add so much to this design.
When I saw these fabrics, I knew exactly which quilt pattern I wanted to stitch up. Introducing my Alma quilt. Alma in Spanish means "heart and soul." Designing and sewing up this quilt pattern is something that I have put my heart and soul into. Isn’t that how quilting works? You pick out the fabric and spend hours cutting and sewing it up. And then when it is time to give it away, you give a little piece of your heart and soul with it. So I think Alma describes it just right.
I love this quilt pattern during this month of love. The pinks are sew sweet and the little hearts are perfect for any Valentine. I also love to give this quilt as a wedding gift, housewarming quilt, or for a new graduate embarking on a new adventure. I also think this quilt can bring a lot of comfort as you are giving away a piece of your heart with this quilt. If there is anyone in your life who needs a little extra love, this quilt is perfect!
And let’s not forget these gorgeous ombres! When working with ombre fabric, you need to pick a pattern that will showcase the change in colors. Some of the pieces on the Alma quilt are larger, so you get this amazing ombre effect with the fabric. Can you believe this pattern only calls for 5 fabrics? It looks like there are so many more! That’s the amazing ombre!
I absolutely love the quilting on this quilt! My longarmer Girl Gone Quilting did such a great job! She used the quilting pattern Bubble Clams for this quilt. I love the little rainbows she quilted.
Thanks for stopping by today. If you would like to see more of what I am up to, make sure you follow me on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Pinterest, and sign up for my super cool emails! Then you won’t miss a thing!
